With the increasing interest in Gut Health and the Microbiome comes a growing understanding of how important they are for the overall health and wellbeing of each and every one of us. Also, not surprisingly, medical researchers are looking at the Gut as a possible source / cause of diseases which have so far proved impossible to cure or even to predict.

Parkinson’s disease is one of those were there are ongoing studies which are looking for correlations between the microbiome and the disease. The following three links refer to such studies.

Non-scientists rely on professionals, like the researchers mentioned, to identify causes and cures of diseases. However, as laymen getting a better understanding of the impact of gut health on our overall well-being, we might yet beat the scientists to it. It also means that we can take action to ensure that our own gut microbiome is healthy and well balanced giving us the opportunity to help ourselves to prevent disease in the future.
